📱 Return to the PDA (Palm OS, Gemini, Offline)

I've always had a strong connection to Palm OS devices. I've been carrying around PDA's long before the 'smartphone' came along.

In fact when the first smartphones came along, I failed to see to big benefit, my trusty Palm could already do all those things and more.

Here's my collection:

Since my college days I've also dabbled in programming them.

Here's a strategy game that I made so many years ago:

Mankind's Conquest

I would very much like to repurpose my old devices, since nearly all of them are still working perfectly and I'm also trying to find a way to be more off-line.

I came accross a post by Kelbot describing how to read Gemini offline and quickly made some improvements so that it could be used with any Gemini site, I've published the source code with instructions here:

I'm on a quest to be more productive, spend more time doing what's essential like quality family time, I've had enough with all the push notifications and constant distractions that's indicative of the current state of the web.

Over the next weeks, I'm going to attempt to do my writing on the Palm and if I feel the urge to doomscroll, I'll just grab my Palm to catch up on gemlogs that I missed.
