[21:43] In the eyes of any non-wizard, you are a wizard, no matter your skill.

[21:20] Simone Giertz and William Osman turned a car into a computer mouse. Inevitable pun: will not work without a driver. :)
[21:14] There's a list of things that are turing-complete by accident. (via) Missing on the list is the AoE 2 scenario editor.
[23:58] I did not read about YourTilde.com before. The first entry in their guestbook is from december 2017, so it appears to be a new server. Nice to still see new communities spawn.
On a related note, I'm afraid riotgirl.club is gone.
[23:01] How cafes are reacting to laptops taking over. Interesting read.
[22:41] This musician recommends to use the internet, not just companies. Second that.
[21:25] Running an update on a few of our company's servers. Connected via RDP through VPN from a MacBook, which is the same machine from which I ssh'd into the club. That makes three different operating systems on one screen. (I'm fighting the urge to install FreeDOS in a VM.)
[17:46] Want to see a photo of a single atom? Here you go.
[22:14] Apparently MS Office is turning us into generalists, reducing our productivity. Applies to LibreOffice, Calligra et cetera, too, obviously.
[22:00] Here's how SpaceX get their launch videos to be high definition, focused.
[21:55] I just read that three years ago today the first user signed up to ctrl-c.club - nice! Happy birthday to the club! :)
Update: Oops. The club news say it was on Feb 11, actually. I guess I got confused by different timezones or something.
[00:51] A bug in the original release of Starcraft had caused a buffer overflow that the community managed to use as a way to create custom maps and matched scripting languages. This is impressive in and of itself. Now, Blizzard released a patch for the Remastered version of Starcraft that emulates the buffer overflow, so that all the old maps can be used again. Now that is fan service.
[00:45] Ōmoto is a japanese religious organization that considers L. L. Zamenhof, the creator of Esperanto, a god. (via)
[00:36] I'm impressed by the works of SpaceX and their launch of the Falcon Heavy. Astounding engineereing, with the two boosters landing simultaneously and all that. Really cool tech! YouTube has the launch video including the landing of said boosters and live views of "Starman", the dummy astronaut onboard the Tesla. (I love this "Don't Panic!" sticker.)
[23:30] The Origin of the word Daemon. I'm one of the guys who pronounce it "day-mon", by the way.
[23:30] I like to occasionally come across shared *nix servers outside the tildeverse. I'd like to link two of those today: chiark (on which you find PuTTY, among other things) and monkey.org.
[23:43] Well ... it is possible to install and run ConnectBot on a Chromebook, but at least in the default settings it does look ghastly. But in contrast to the SSH client found in the Chrome web store this app has built-in support for pubkey authentication.
Update: Forget what I wrote before. Using it in a maximized window with a larger font size makes it actually usable. Only downside is that the app for some reason defaults to a US keyboard layout with no apparent means to change this.
