Letters from the bus
I recently started a new job, and I am taking the bus to work most days during the week. I’m still getting used to the new routine. One thing I’ve been pondering is whether I can still fit post writing into my current lifestyle. Before starting this job, I was experimenting with writing posts first thing in the morning, which worked well for me. But if I were to do that now, I’d have to be waking up really early.
Today I’m trying a completely new approach: writing on the bus right on my phone. Since I hand-edit my HTML, I will need to do some of the process manually when I get home after work, like adding links and images and updating my indexes. And obviously typing on a phone is nowhere near as pleasant as ripping on my beloved clacky keyboard. And I sometimes get bus sick if I don't look out the window enough...
Nonetheless, today’s post is kind of a test run, and it seems to be working alright so far. The key thing is whether I can think through what I want to say and get the words down, and that all seems possible on the bus. I do wonder if it will affect how polished the writing is, but my writing’s never that polished in the first place, so who cares!
I don’t know if it will be easy to keep up as a habit, but I’m glad I came up with a way to write posts that might work for me where I’m at.
Have you ever come up with a creative way to keep a habit going despite life changes?
