Eventually — Tame Impala
- sidechaining!
- laid back “parlor” feeling to the beginning of the verse with the shaky synth chords
- and then the doomy bass synth interrupts that — the undercurrent of feeling breaks in and becomes a torrent
- lyrics and production align — expansion on “eventually” on the chorus
- good instrumental reflection section in the middle?
- the “break-in” is different in the second verse, because that ground has already been tread, it doesn’t have to be as dramatic the second time, and it fits better with the lyrics
- string do ti do ti motif on last prechorus, ending in harp flourish — increases the tension in the leadup
- the string motif is continued and built upon in the outro section, sounds like it always belonged there
very good sense of regret and rationalization mixed together in lyrics & music
maybe something Tame Impala does is once the lyrics have colored/given meaning to the musical materials he's using, he lets the music then speak for itself with those associations, hence the longish, mostly instrumental section at the end
