[2026-03-25T04:35:17Z] i finally got a set of calipers [2026-03-25T04:35:23Z] i am measuring so much stuff [2026-03-25T04:36:08Z] uh oh [2026-03-25T04:36:30Z] and wire strippers [2026-03-25T04:36:45Z] midfavila: why "uh oh" [2026-03-25T04:36:49Z] i am normal and can be trusted with tools [2026-03-25T11:10:17Z] midfavila: you ate a city in the uk along with brioche? [2026-03-25T11:30:16Z] midfavila: What you're saying is honestly staggering, you've delved so deep into Linux and open hardware, but you haven't done well academically so you don't have a degree that would allow you to get a job without much hassle. There are a lot of junior engineers who are currently employed but are capable of much less than you are. On that note, as long as you do a proper CS or EE program at a decent college, you will not need to write much high level code [2026-03-25T11:30:16Z] or do any game development at all. Colleges still teach tons of C and some assembly. You can easily find yourself designing your own compiler and doing embedded software development per course requirements. [2026-03-25T14:35:51Z] Guest23 it's not even necessarily that i did poorly academically, it's that covid happened in the middle of my academics and then the government literally dissolved the public school system for an entire year, and when they reformed it, they just pushed everyone ahead an entire year. they also didn't offer any of the necessary electives that universities require :\ [2026-03-25T14:36:24Z] i was pretty consistently As and Bs prior to that [2026-03-25T14:36:48Z] but i appreciate the sentiment, it was nice to wake up to that :3 [2026-03-25T14:37:19Z] i've been thinking about it for a while and i'll probably schedule a meeting with admissions at the local uni for spring of 2027 [2026-03-25T14:37:58Z] i can apply as a mature student now and i'm sure they'll consider my CV in addition to my transcripts [2026-03-25T14:38:20Z] i have a letter of introduction, too... [2026-03-25T14:39:04Z] or, well, i suppose it's more of a letter of recommendation. it's old, but that it was written at all in the context it was should say something [2026-03-25T14:40:46Z] sewn yes i ate the entire town of leicester in one sitting. i'm frankly a public menace and i need to be stopped before i go after wensleydale next [2026-03-25T14:41:48Z] wensleydale is really good... there's a local shop that has a fruit version with uh, ginger and mango i think [2026-03-25T14:44:08Z] that plus a little jerky and some nice bread... amazing lunch [2026-03-25T14:44:20Z] a bit peasantpunk though. serfcore, even. [2026-03-25T14:44:24Z] serf and turf? [2026-03-25T14:44:28Z] hmm [2026-03-25T16:19:17Z] speaking of open hardware i should check on how the community is doing wrt: pinenote software [2026-03-25T16:19:26Z] i have debian on mine rn but i'm not a fan of it for obvious reasons [2026-03-25T16:19:47Z] i really want to try and get sxmo running on postmarketos [2026-03-25T16:19:48Z] wait [2026-03-25T16:19:58Z] kris_: didn't you say pmos adopted sysd or something a while ago [2026-03-25T16:19:59Z] ? [2026-03-25T16:29:51Z] yes [2026-03-25T16:33:03Z] sysvbros... [2026-03-25T16:33:05Z] it's so over [2026-03-25T16:33:31Z] openrc is still a choice [2026-03-25T16:33:34Z] because it is based off alpine after all [2026-03-25T16:33:58Z] we're so back let's goooo >:O [2026-03-25T16:34:10Z] idk it's been a while since i've poked at this stuff
