Documentation sucks
This wiki tries to solve that. Simple, Example-based information nuggets that are easy to digest. Reading is exhausting and videos are slow. This site serves as a happy medium.
Why Appendix?
Because I like alliteration.
Ok… But Why? It can’t be just that?
An appendix serves as additional context for a story. A non-essential collection of information waiting for a reader to take a deeper dive. My goal with this site is to boil down topics to what I think is the best fit between information required to learn and the proficiency and familiarity of a topic.
Why Does Your Writing Suck?
I’m not good at writing and want to get better. Just look at the pictures if you don’t want to read. I want things short, sweet, and succinct.
Learning Philosophy
I don’t like rote memorization whatsoever. I think it is the bane of education systems. You should not be required to learn pure facts. If you want to remember everything use Anki or some other SRS.
I think it is much more valuable to understand concepts and patterns in the things you learn. I like to think of these patterns like gears that you can rearrange to make the subject-matter work in a way you want. Application of learning is just patchwork you put together with patterns.
Inspiration
This site was in part inspired by Pandoc Example 33. I love Pandoc. I am starting to branch into using Quarto. Quarto lets me use code execution to help make this site.
For example this code block gets executed, and the output is displayed.
