A Tilde Server is a "Pubnix" - a public *nix system (*nix being used as a catchall for Unix and Linux-style operating systems) that is open to all for joining, providing a bunch of services to its community. On these servers, you can discover the social aspects of a shared system, changing file permissions, writing programs accessible to all users on the machine, making fun personal sites, chatting on IRC, and lots and lots of other cool stuff.

A Tilde server takes the shared experience to another level, because some cool people decided to bring the Tildes together under the Tildeverse - a "loose association of like-minded tilde communities." That means that tilde server members can participate in one giant community within an ever-evolving archipelago of pubnixes. Check out tildeverse.org to learn more about these services. Some of them are:
- an IRC network -> tilde.chat
- a mastodon instance -> tilde.zone
- a pastebin-like -> paste.tildeverse.org

Depending on the server, you might get access to certain specific services too!
